Dr David Hon PhD, CEO of the Dahon Group has been involved in the design and promotion of folding bikes for almost thirty years. After resigning his scientific post at the “Hughes Aircraft Research Laboratory” in the USA, he invested his knowledge and energy in the folding bike as a means ofimproving ecological mobility.
With folding bikes becoming internationally successful the Dahon brand is associated with innovation, quality and reliability. Dahon continues to invest manifestly in research and development. The introduction of the acclaimed electric assisted folding cycle is a prime example of the results from this investment. The Dahon brand is most favoured by the independent bicycle dealer and this type of partnership is considered very important, as the customer enjoys a great product combined with great service. Dahon as a leader in its field will continue to introduce new and innovative products in the higher end of the market, distributed via the independent dealer distribution channel.
In an effort to widen the appeal of cycling world-wide, Dahon is creating a new division to service the lower cost segment of the market. The desire is to change “man’s habits” regarding mobility. This division will go under the name of BICECO, representing cycling that is ecological and economical, i.e. Sustainable Mobility. With alternative brand names, BICECO will work with distribution channels that differ from the independent dealer. BICECO will target mid-and low-range markets, building on Dahon’s commitment to quality for all of its products.
